1 in 5 people in Australia experience alcohol, gambling or drug addiction, but only 10% get the support they need, when they need it.
There is currently a 20-year delay from the time someone is addicted, to the time they receive support.
These might seem like staggering numbers to you, but to us, they’re real people. They’re people we know, people we care about—they are us.
Addiction? Disease? Mental health issue? Habit?
There are a lot of words out there that try to get to the core of what an addiction is, but the problem is, they often cloud the person underneath them.
Not everybody that faces trauma in their life experiences addiction. But nearly everyone who has experienced addiction can be traced back to trauma—95% of people in fact.
So why are we still treating it like a personal failure or a lifestyle choice? We shouldn’t, and it’s time for change. We’re building a movement to shift the way we talk about, treat and support people with addiction.
Did you know that Alcoholics Anonymous started in the 1930s? Or that Narcotics Anonymous began in the 1950s? The world has changed a lot since then, but sadly the way people with addictions access and experience support hasn’t.
Arli is on a mission to change all of that.
We meet people right where they are. No travelling to meetings. No waitlists for rehab. No expensive experiments. Arli is a free, online tool for people to access support when they want, where they want and how they want.
Arli provides people with a whole world of support—straight from the privacy of their pockets. From one-on-one coaching and learning activities, to instantly connecting with support groups that share similar interests, experiences and goals, Arli is the ultimate partner on the pathway to recovery.
